Dirty On Purpose Get Lamer With Every Passing Moment
So I wake up this morning to find 11 comments on my little blog, and links to it up on The Modern Age and (my arch rival) Brooklyn Vegan. Holy Fuck! I’m becoming famous in blog land! Woot woot!
I know some idiot will take the above seriously and post a response to it, so let me make it clear, it is a joke, sarcasm if you will, so keep your self righteous mouths shut.
But, I digress… we must discuss Dirty On Purpose, and how by responding to Ms. Modern Age’s post “Sausagefest… On Purpose?” they have proved how lame of a band they are, and how lame the NYC music scene is becoming, or has become.
Lets recap…
Around 11pm on July 20th, Dirty On Purpose take the stage at Southpaw to play an unforgivably horrendous set.
Sometime early on July 21st, Miss Modern Age post’s a review of the show…
By 7:58am on July 21st, Joe from Dirty On Purpose has responded to this post just “to clarify”.
By 11:51am on July 21st, Dirty On Purpose’s manager has also posted a response to clarify and defend the band.
THIS IS SO LAME, because now everyone knows that you get off stage, run home to your computer to see what the blogs had to say about your show.
THIS IS SO LAME, because now everyone knows that you get all worked up over a little criticism.
Here’s a little “Rock History” lesson for DoP. Every band ever has been criticized, but the good bands don’t pay attention to it and get wrapped up in it, usually because they’re busy creating… and as artistic and creative as you guys pretend to be with you’re noise, you’re not fooling anyone. You’re not pushing the boundaries of music by getting onstage and making noise. Songs still matter to people, that’s why Dr. Dog, despite fucking things up by going on late, were the highlight of the night. They played songs, and you didn’t and, in case you didn’t know, people like songs.

actually, the reason I responded was to clear things up about erika, as that has the potential to get blown out of proportion and people's feelings might get hurt.
call it lame, whatever, I just wanted to keep a friend. that's all.
and as far as how lame it is for me to respond to blogs, criticisms, etc., instead of spending valuable time "creating", well, I am at work right now, where I have to go every day and sit in front of a computer to earn enough money to be able to "create" music in this fine city of ours.
so when I get bored I read blogs, and since I happen to "create" music, I read music blogs, such as themodernage, on a regular basis. most people in bands do this. we like recognition. otherwise we wouldn't be playing music in front of people, we'd do it at home locked in a room and no one would know about it.
If I have broken some rule about being cool and not caring about stuff like this, well, ok. I accept that. I am not cool. nobody in my band is. You picked up on that pretty quickly, but you might be smarter than most people. If I was too excited about playing with a band I really liked, then oh well, get over it. I am entitled to like Clap Your Hands Say Yeah just as much as the people in the audience are. they fucking rule. and they're nice guys. friendly. fun to play a show with. god how awful, huh?
anyway, I know I am in negative cool points now to all the people who think that a music scene involves all the bands hating each other, and going to shows so you can make fun of everyone there.
you're entitled to spend your money any way you want, but I think it would be pretty cool if people paid to see a band they liked. Sorry you wasted yours.
))<>((
no publicity is bad publicity, so relaxxx.
granted erika was easy on the eyes and ears, but when it comes down to the Rock and the Roll, george is IT in my book.
i love that movie, me you and everybody else!
No one seemed to care about Dirty On Purpose before this show. They've always been just a blah, boring, pretty bad band...
why is joe putting "create" in quotations?
as if he didnt talk enough at the show making lame comments, he now has to write paragraph after paragraph on blogs. where is his boss?
Ok, this has to be the absolute best blog ever. I love it!
joe is a homo.
there, i took it to a new level.
to a new-er level
joe is homo-gay
oh shit. I totally love you.
"create" is in quotes because that's what I am supposed to be doing instead of reading and writing on blogs all day, according to the original post.
I have to go put alex whatsizname's dick back in my mouth now, see you later.
This is all so meta...
god, its about time joe fucking grows up. joe, you and your gay indie band make me sick.
seriously, joe should be fired from his day job.
are you saying that you dont actually "create" your music? theres no need to use punctuation if you did. however, i do like your song "now you dream of us" (not sure if thats the title)
